Piped Drinking Water for San He School

While negotiations for constructing a bridge in San He were going on, another small project got off the ground and was completed in October 2007.  This was a project to supply drinking water to the school in San He.  This school is one of the furthest schools in Ziyun County and is located 8 Km from the Da Ying Township.  This school is near the bridge that is to be constructed.  The road through the town is now being constructed but there are no transport facilities at the moment.

The school has a total population of 131 boys and girls from Primary 1 to Primary 5.  Drinking water has to be carried over a distance of 1.5 km from the source which is located in the mountains.  The school therefore made a request for a water pipe system which would make life easier for all the children in the school.

With the cooperation of the Science and Technology Bureau (STB), two water tanks were constructed; one at the source and the other near the school, to collect and to store the water.  Skilled workers were employed to join the pipes together while some of the parents of the students assited in laying them.  The workers fixed three taps. The total cost of the project was RMB 8525.00 (B$1350).  The final inspection took place on 17th November 2007 and it was found to be satisfactory.  The parents and teachers of the school are very grateful to all those who contributed towards this project.
