Progress on San He Bridge Project

The San He Bridge Project finally got underway

The much-talked about bridge project for the villagers of San He came a step nearer to fruition with the signing of the agreement on 21st December 2007 at Da Ying township between the three parties involved: RBCS-NCL, the committee of San He village of Da Ying township and the Guizhou Charity Society of Dr Chao of Edmonton, Canada.   The representative of the government of Da Ying township witnessed the signing of the agreement.  

The agreed sum for the construction of the San He Bridge is RMB 75,000.  It will be jointly financed by RBCS (30k) and Dr Chao’s group (45k).    The completed bridge will be 15 m long with a width of 4 m and at a height of 4 m.  The load capacity is estimated to be 15 tons.  Anna, as our representative in Ziyun County, will supervise the project to ensure that the agreed plans and implementation schedule are carried out but the San He village committee will assume overall management, supervision and implementation of the project.  Anna is also responsible for ensuring the quality of the materials used and the disbursement of the funds. 

Work on the bridge began at the beginning of this month.  The construction of the foundation and the pier should be completed within two months   The final stage of the project will only commence after the completion of the curb and drain running along the road which crosses the bridge.  The whole project is estimated to be completed by May 2008.
